At the Paré household, Christmas is part of a long tradition of squabbles, depressing gift exchanges and dubious feasts. This year, determined not to let her children spoil her turkey dinner yet again, Moman does everything in her power to bring back a Christmas of warmth and sharing. Popa puts in his two cents’ worth with his twin cousin Sti-Mé.

Cecile lives alone with her mother since her dad left after an umpteenth quarrel. She welcomes warmly Henri, a new step father arrived for Christmas. But the little girl will learn that against grown-ups' instability even Father Christmas is quite powerless.

Olivier Py's baroque imagination, which sometimes leads him into self-indulgence and incoherence, is well suited to bringing out this opera's darkness and he does an excellent job
